THE DEVOURING BY HUNGERS
I hate using promo photos, but I can’t find anything else on this band.
The Unobserved is like an alternate reality where Isis got meaner and more metal rather than boring.
CRAZY ON YOU BY THE DECEMBERISTS
Originally by Heart
All posts in the month of August will be covers.
During their Hazards of Love tour, the band would come out, say nothing, and play “The Hazards of Love in its entirety. Then take a short break and come back out, talk and play the hits.
The second set would end with this cover. When I saw them, it was more over the top than it is in this recording. Though it's possible, it just seemed like that because I was actually there.
THE BUTCHER BY THE BODY
I’ve never liked Full of Hell. I think its the vocals. Its either too Cookie Monster or too high pitched scream.
The Body, I just kind of overlooked. I checked out “No One Deserves Happiness,” I remember some hype and something about Beyonce, but it didn’t do anything for me. But after listening to “One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache,” the collaborative album this track is from, I will be revisiting it.
The doomy sludge of this track is fantastic.
RIFF FUCK REAP BY RABBITS
I refuse to do anything but love a band that put out a “record” (flexi postcard) covering Minor Threat’s “Straight Edge” and Black Flag’s “Wasted”.
DRAMAMINE BY MODEST MOUSE
I've talked enough shit on this band to fill 2 sewage treatment centers, but I love this song."
WOMB BY MUSCLE AND MARROW
“Of all the types of music you listen to, I hate this kind the most.”– My wife.
Slow and moody and maybe a little sexy?
I really like the first track from the almum, “My Fear” a lot. Its like the rest of the album, but with John Carpenter synths on top of it. Its really good, but not a great resprentation of the album as whole, “Womb” is beter at that.
JACK THE RIPPER BY COLIN MELOY
All posts in the month of August will be covers.
Originally by Morrissey
I’ve got no love whatsoever for The Smiths or Morrissey. Not a drop. Every time I hear some cover I end up liking it, and I think “shit, maybe I was wrong and need to give it another go.” And every single time I get screwed by how much I hate it.
This song is from a 2005 EP called “Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey,” 6 tracks, all Morrissey covers.
WE BOTH GO DOWN TOGETHER BY THE DECEMBERISTS
Picking just one Decemberists song was no easy task.
