I’LL TAKE THE CRAB JUICE BY DEFORESTERS
Deforesters aren’t the most original band in the world, but they are good at what they do, taking org-core/ no idea punk and adding some pop-punk on top.
Its catchy as hell.
PIG CITY I BY BURNING LOVE
I wasn’t as into the album this song is from (Rotten Thing To Say) when it came out as I was the band’s previous releases. It just didn’t sound the same, so I forgot about. Listening to it again, I think what probably turned me off was that the production (by Kurt Ballou) didn’t sound like shit.
Listening to the two albums back to back, Songs For Burning Lovers sounds like it was recorded on a boombox. Its still a great album, there is no question about that, but the production can’t touch Rotten Thing To Say.
Go buy things and see them live every chance you get, you will not be disappointed.
THE CLOUD BY JIM GUTHRIE
A song from the excellent soundtrack to an excellent game, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP.
Buy the album here (MP3, 180-gram vinyl, or cassette) and the game for iOS or Steam.
I highly recommend both the game and the soundtrack.
JACK THE RIPPER BY BURNING LOVE
All posts in the month of August will be covers.
Originally by Nick Cave
Two “Jack the Rippers” in a row is probably ill-advised, despite being two totally different songs.
This thing slays. Go buy the record its on (iTunes or on vinyl), and then buy their full-length album and go see them. The live show is amazing.
I can not say enough how much I love this song and band.
